New Year Visit to Malamakkavu

A Holy New Year Day !!!!

A new year is something which would bring a bundle of happiness and joy. Of course there is a lot to think about it. Beginning of everything. Some people take resolutions on this day, it can be to avoid something or to introduce some other thing ..Whatever it is, everybody celebrates with full spirit.. Eve celebrations are becoming a part of one's status. In my school days we used to sit till midnight, watching TV programs and on 12 o clock will wish everyone… Later that too got disappeared.. Truly speaking it goes  like a normal day.. Sometimes will enjoy a dinner night. This new year too, a dinner night was awaiting...😂 So soon after the scrumptious dinner, we both were thinking very seriously what to do on the next day .. A temple visit is must ...after that how can we utilise the day !!!!🤔🤔
Suddenly he said first will go to temple later can decide there..I too agreed .. The next question arose ..which temple to be visited ?? I have heard many times people talking about “Malamakkavu Temple" in Palakkad district..So i immediately said we can make it as a travel  to Palakkadan Villages ..
To my surprise, my husband too quickly agreed with me.. Most of our journeys starts at the early mornings but this time we took a deeper sleep  and the result was, delay of an hour in the plan. So could start only by 8.. It was about a 2 hour journey .We started after a fresh breakfast from Thrissur. Food is always important in every journey. If you are well fed, that itself will give you a positive face. Just try .. I believe so.. As soon as we entered the Palakkad border, we could feel the hotness. You know what, in Palakkad the  temperature is higher compared to Thrissur. So the you can literally feel the climate change .If you are from Thrissur you can take perumbilavu - perinthalmanna road to reach the temple .. Above all google map will guide you more perfectly … Nila / Bharatha puzha tributaries can be seen on the way ...but water level was poor ..the dry sand was more visible than the water … On the way I could only see some  dusty trees might be the killing summer made all these.. Not making much delay reached the temple . Malamakkavu Temple is one among the famous 108 Ayyappan temples in kerala. The first view once you get down there would be the Temple Pond, in fact there is something very interesting about it. The main flower used for deity is “ Chengazhinir Poovu “ also known to be as “Neelathamara” (Blue Lotus) is grown only in this Temple pond. Stories are like if somebody pray wholeheartedly and offers prayers on the feet of lord Ayyappa, the very next day the flower will bloom as a blessing from god. There was a known family staying near the temple, they helped us to have a look on this very special flower. It's a very very old temple and I could not find much reformation done on the temple.. I saw some old ladies on the temple surroundings Typical palakkadan village characteristics they owned , their body language , talking slang , attire.. everything was peculiar …. I am sure that they still live according to their family traditions and values … Thinking about all these got into the car … I loved the place very much ….. Roads were not so good , bit narrow and I saw many people are walking on the middle of the road ..Even after continuous buzzers they were not ready to move an inch and we had to drive accordingly … People won't change and accidents will continue … This was my intuition ...We were so blessed  to visit another temple which was around 8 kms from Malamakkavu .. That was Kodikkunnu Bhagavathi Temple located in Pallippuram village of Palakkad. From Malamakkavu if you take Thrithala - Kumbidi road you can reach this place .. The temple is located in a higher geographical area….Only a Pocket road could take you from the main road to the temple compound . It was encompassed with many trees, the overall panorama gave us a scary effect … There are few steps you need to climb and walk a bit to reach the main entrance ...Temple pond was on the right side, it was looking not so good …. It looked poor same time strange too … I felt it like the one which we see on scary, magical movies !!! Temple was about to shut , but we could offer prayers !! There were no much maintenance done on the temple as the financial condition was not so well !! I conclude so .. After having a look on the outside area of the temple , we came back to car .. As i already mentioned it was only a pocket road connecting the place .. ours was the only car parked in that area so when we tried to take it back , neighbouring people gave us a weird look as if we did something wrong !!!
These kinda people are everywhere !!! Just to spoil a day !! My mind voice ..Journey resumed .. Panniyur Sri Varahamoorthi Temple was the third .. Excuse me I really don't remember the distance from Kodikunnu to here .. I can say it won't take much of your time… A very old temple, surrounded by dusty hay.  It's been located at one corner of a farmland, little away from the main town. There was some reconstruction going on the temple… I could only see a very few devotees… After offering prayers , we saw a box placed on the outer area, to contribute for the temple renovation. We donated as much as we could .. The reconstruction was much needed… This is known to be the first temple in Kerala, which has been consecrated by Parashurama. So just imagine how old the temple is .. In  M.T Vasudevan Nair's ( Kerala's famous novelist )“ Nalukettu “ novel he points out about this temple in some area. I could recall it now ..
After spending some more time, left from there… We returned via Thrithala , one of the town in Palakkad which is been located on banks of Nila river. There is a story of “ Parayi Petta Panthirukulam” in Eithihyamala of Kottarathil Shankunni, this is the place it was born. All the characters are based on this area. Kindly do have a detailed search on the story, so that you would receive much clarity ..  It was getting noon, so we had some food from there and resumed journey to home .. I know this is only a half day travel and nothing much to explore ..still i can tell you that it's just awesome …
New places , new culture , new food that's of course an incredible experience..
So folks do visit on your leisure times and get delighted and blessed ….
Stay happy & healthy ☺☺

There were enough breaks between the journey, coz  at a stretch journey would really make you dog- tired. On the way we got a chance to visit “ Iringole ...
